2015 and I'm still thinking about those students who trained under me ages ago.
I hope that you are doing well. I hope that you are continuing seeking good health, and happiness in your lives.
I keep you in my thoughts, and good wishes.
If you read this blog by chance one day.. send me a note to tell me how you are doing.
I do care about you.

I'm thinking of you...
To Dat, Declan, Erik, Heather, Jordon, Raessa, Sarah, Seemeen, Tony, and Zaid
Happy New Year to my former students...
Who knows.. maybe one day you will come back to this blog out of nostalgia.
I know that I did.
I want you to know that I fondly think of you all very often, and I wonder how you are doing in your lives, goals, and challenges. Often I send up prayers for blessings on you, and your families.
The Bamboo plant that you gave me is growing, and beautifully adorning my home.
I have fond memories of our time together. I want you to know that I was very proud of what wonderful students you were, and how well you had progressed. I know that I told you that on our last day together, but I want you to know that the pride has not diminished.
As the quote said on the card that you gave to me:
"Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer, and to celebrate the joy of everyday."
Keep enjoying your lives, growing, and succeeding dear students, and know that I still care about you.

An official announcement
To all students, a personal message,
I understand how difficult it is to see change happening especially when one has enjoyed the moments. It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that I have submitted my resignation as Sensei of this dojo to my superior Sensei. August will be my last month teaching you. My decision is based on the fact that I have within me a different philosophy towards karate than that of my Sensei. I have recognized that I walk down a different path than he does, and that it would be best for everyone if I hand in my resignation, walk away from Shotokan training, and follow the guidance of my spirit.
You do have many choices:
a) I have requested that the head Sensei replace me with another black belt. I will make every attempt to introduce this person to you before the next session of classes start.
b) If you would like to continue exploring self defense in a deeper manner, you may consider taking the Sikaran Martial arts classes offered at our facility on Sunday afternoons with Guro Paul. He is a fantastic instructor.
c) If you would like to explore other Shotokan dojo. There is Midwest Karate dojo located only 15 minutes away from our location under the guidance of Sensei Jerry Marr. He is the original Sensei of our City. You could not find better instruction. Almost every Sensei that teaches today was once his student.
d) If you would like to join me in my Kyokushin dojo. My Kyokushin dojo is on the other side of the river, a good drive away, but if you are open to the distance, you may find that you enjoy this new style as most of my classes were based on the knowledge, and experiences that I gained from my Kyokushin training.
Whichever decision you make, I want to wish you the best. You have been wonderful students. I am proud of your effort, and progress. I foresee a great future for you all.
